Hyundai has released an image of the third concept it plans to unveil at the SEMA aftermarket and custom car show in Las Vegas next month.
Claimed to be race-ready, the latest concept is based on the current Veloster Turbo and sees the Korean car-maker team up with Austin Texas-based artwork and automotive design consultant, Gurnade.
The changes over the standard Veloster are said to be huge.
Hyundai hasn't said how powerful the show car is but the Veloster's turbocharged 1.6-litre gains a new intercooler, cold air intake, exhaust and an ECU remap.
To cope with the power and improve rigidity, the chassis had to receive significant reinforcement.
Helping improve on-track handling, Hyundai says the standard Veloster's suspension was junked for new near-race-spec coil-over suspension. Braking, meanwhile, has been beefed up with huge discs and front six-piston callipers.
Externally, the Veloster gains big 19-inch alloys, wider front and rear wings, a new grille and carbon-fibre bonnet. There's also a new aero package that features plenty of spoilers.
Inside, there's a full roll-cage and race seats.
Strangely, some of the weight-saving has then been undone with the addition of a more powerful sound system that gains a big amp and huge subwoofer.
Painted in a shade of purple called "Magic Magenta" the Veloster Turbo will share centre stage with two other Hyundai SEMA concepts, a nitrous-fed Santa Fe and an even crazier 776kW Santa Fe that's been modified by Bisimoto.
