The incoming Nissan Ariya electric car has been reimagined as a California-style surf woodie wagon for the 2022 SEMA modified car show.
Created in partnership with the South Carolina-based Tommy Pike Customs, the 2023 Nissan Ariya Surfwagon has been transformed with a vinyl wrap that mimics the wood panelling and chrome trim from wagons of the 1930s and 1940s.
Other changes include new 20-inch alloy wheels that feature polished stainless-steel centre caps and whitewall tyres.
There’s also a custom roof rack that’s been specially made for the Ariya SUV, and although it probably saps electric range it does accommodate two 7ft surfboards.
Finally, the Ariya sits on a custom-engineered lowered suspension.
Sadly, Nissan has ruled out pushing the concept into production, but its existence does pre-empt other owners modifying their EV in the future to suit their hobbies.
First revealed in 2020, the Ariya was initially pencilled in for an Australian release in 2022.
That plan was then scrapped and now the all-electric SUV is expected to land next year.
