SEMA 2022: Nissan Z NISMO Performance Parts released

Suspension upgrades, big brakes and power-boosting engine bolt-ons all on the menu for reborn Nissan Z

Nissan’s official performance division, NISMO, has launched a host of upgrades for the all-new 2022 Nissan Z at the 2022 SEMA show in the US that will be introduced on the sports car next year.

Showcased on a special Nissan Z car unveiled in Las Vegas, the new NISMO Performance Parts catalogue offers a comprehensive array of go-faster goodies.

Beginning with the suspension, NISMO has developed a new coilover suspension kit with a twin-tube design that features adjustable ride height and rebound damping.

Said to have been developed with 2011 Nissan GT Academy champion Bryan Heitkotter, the coilovers can be supplemented with a further NISMO-developed adjustable anti-roll bar, strut tower bracer and other components that include new rear mid links, lower camber links, traction arms, end links, front upper arms and front outer tie rod ends.

For those who need more stopping power, NISMO has added a big brake package to its accessories catalogue that introduces six-piston callipers up front and four-piston grippers at the rear.

There’s larger vented discs too, and a set of track-suited pads that can better deal with higher temperatures associated with flat-out circuit work.

Lighter, forged 19-inch wheels have also been introduced that are available in black, anthracite or bronze and are wrapped with Bridgestone RE71RS tyres (255/40 at the front and 285/35 at the rear).

Under the bonnet, NISMO has introduced a new cold air intake that’s said to reduce charge-air temperatures and maintain engine performance on hot days.

Also helping the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 is a new NISMO heat exchanger that has a claimed 148 per cent more volume that the standard exchanger.

Reducing back pressure, there’s also a new sports exhaust with 57mm-wide outer pipes.

Helping owners tune their Nissan Z further, NISMO has engineered a new twin-disc clutch and flywheel kit that can cope with up to 588kW and 1017Nm of torque while retaining factory-like pedal feel and effort.

Externally, NISMO has also made a styling kit that includes carbon-fibre mirror caps, a new fuel filler cover, kick plates, titanium shift knob, carbon-fibre steering wheel trim kit, a carbon-fibre engine cover and a NISMO-branded coolant expansion tank and oil filler cap.

US pricing for the performance upgrades have been released on nismoparts.nissanusa.com. It’s not yet known if Nissan Australia will offer the full range of performance upgrades via its dealers.

Launched in September, the stock Nissan Z Coupe  is priced from $73,300 plus on-road costs.
