SEMA: BMW reveals M Performance parts for new M5
No extra power but lighter weight, track day suspension and extra kitBMW has unveiled an even sportier version of its F90 M5 sports sedan at the SEMA modified car show in Las Vegas.
Claimed to preview a long list of M Performance parts specially created for the latest M5, the new dealer-fit extras are headlined by a body kit for enhanced aerodynamics.
The parts include a revised front bumper, extended side skirts, a boot lid rear spoiler and a larger rear diffuser.
Most of the aero components are made from lightweight carbon fibre, the same material used for optional side mirrors, front grille and side stakes.
Interestingly, for those who plan to use their M5 on race circuits, BMW M Performance has also developed an optional adjustable coil-over suspension.
A lightweight titanium sports exhaust with carbon fibre tips is also on the options list, although BMW hasn't let-on whether the system boosts power or torque, nor how much weight is saved.
Under the bonnet, aside from a new carbon fibre engine cover, the 441kW/750Nm 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 remains untouched. So, aided by its all-wheel drive, the M5 will still hit 100km/h in 3.4 seconds before topping out at 305km/h.
Inside, there's a new Alcantara and carbon fibre steering wheel plus carbon fibre shift paddles and gear lever.
BMW has yet to release pricing for the styling kit, suspension upgrades or titanium sports exhaust, but all options are set to be available when the latest M5 lands in Australia next March or April.
