SEMA: BMW shows off M3 30 Years American Edition
Red, white and blue anniversary M carBMW is celebrating 30 years of M3 sales in North America with a special, one-off commemorative model.
The M3 30 Years American Edition is said to be the work of the German brand's bespoke division BMW Individual.
Based on the current F80 M3 Competition Pack the 30th anniversary special is unchanged under the bonnet so it runs the 331kW/550Nm twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder.
However, unique features for the celebratory M3 kick-off with the paint, a striking 'Frozen Red' metallic claimed to pay tribute to the original E30 M3's optional 'Henna Red' colour.
Complimenting the rouge hue is a set of gold alloy wheels, 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear, inspired by the rims fitted to the E30 M3 DTM race cars from the 1980s.
The exterior tributes are completed by M colour roof stripes and a large American flag with '30th Anniversary' decals on the rear windscreen.
Inside, the interior continues the theme with a red, white and blue colour scheme for its premium leather seats which also feature yet more American flag decals on the front head restraints.
Other options fitted to the M3 30 Years include selections from the M Performance parts list including a large rear carbon-fibre rear spoiler, a titanium sports exhaust and carbon-fibre mirrors, side skirts and front splitter.
BMW North America has yet to confirm pricing but will reveal details to prospective buyers following the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
