European and British drop-tops are set for top billing at this month's Shannons Sydney Late Spring Auction.
To be held on November 17, the auction will highlight collectible roadsters and convertibles from Porsche, MG, Jaguar and Austin Healey, as well as 16 classic motorcycles and a large array of motoring memorabilia.
Headlining the auction is a black-on-black 1989 Porsche 911 'Wide Body' Speedster. Featuring a cut-down frameless windscreen, 'minimalist' roof and twin aerodynamic blisters behind the seats, the Speedster is one of just 2103 ever produced, one of only 139 right-hand drive examples made and one of six delivered to Australia.
As one of the rarest cars at auction, and with a complete documented history, the Speedster is expected to fetch between $90,000 and $105,000.
Equally desirable is a restored, 'limited miles' 1958 Jaguar XK150 Roadster auctioneers say will attract bids of between $105,000 and $120,000, and a 1954 Austin-Healey 100/4 BN1 Roadster – complete with Le Mans kit engine – with an expected selling range of $52,000 to $58,000.
Other open-top cars to go under the hammer include a 1999 TVR Chimera 4L V8 Convertible ($32,000-$38,000), a 1949 MG TC Roadster ($32,000-$38,000), a 1972 Jensen Healey Roadster ($14,000-$18,000) and a 1972 MG B MkII Roadster ($16,000-$20,000).
The auction also features 16 motorcycles from private collections with marques including MV Agusta, Benelli-Motobi, Moto Guzzi, Gilera, Matchless, Harley-Davidson, Bianchi, Ariel, AJS, Moto Morini, Velocette, Indian and Lambretta – eight of which have 'no reserve'.
All up, 74 lots are on offer at the November 17 auction, including 26 cars, 16 motorcycles, 32 memorabilia lots, plus a selection of New South Wales numerical number plates.
