Shannons Sydney auction offers historical V8 muscle

Revered automotive classics go under the hammer next week
Cashed up motoring enthusiasts will be treated to a collection of exotic classics from Australia and the U.S at the Shannons Sydney Spring Classic Auction on October 21.
One of the most notable cars to go under the hammer is a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray “Split Window” coupe (pictured). The example for sale was painstakingly restored around 10 years ago, is finished in Sebring Silver with a black interior and features “triple eared” factory knock off wheels and packs a 327 V8 that is mated to a four speed manual.
Shannons expects the Stingray to attract a winning bid of $82,000 to $90,000.
Fans of Aussie V8 muscle cars will not be left wanting, with an as original two owner 1969 Holden HT Monaro GTS 350 coupe. Showing 65,073 (miles) on the odometer, the Monaro still bears its original white paint work.
The hulking 350 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt some 2000 kilometres ago and, prospective owners will have to hand over between $80,000 to $88,000 to park one in their garage.
A 1974 Holden Torana LH sedan has been remodeled as a replica of the L34 SLR 5000 Toranas Holden built in 1974 for Bathurst homologation. Shannons is anticipating a cool $45,000 to $50,000 and attributes the steep asking price to the car’s excellent condition.
Those who prefer something that wears a blue oval will be tempted by a Ford Falcon XC Cobra Coupe – number 361 of the 400 built by Ford in 1978 to take up the fight with the then new Torana A9X models at Mount Panorama.
The classic Falcon currently reads 178,953 allegedly original kilometres on the clock and is still fitted with its original 302 V8 and FMX automatic transmission. Shannons is predicting a sale price of $80,000 to $88,000.
