Shannons to sponsor Quit Targa West

WA's own Targa will be supported by Shannons in 2006...

With eight months still to go and nearly half of the 80 car entry list already confirmed, plans are well advanced for Quit Targa West. The second running of the tarmac rally will take place from September 7-10.

According to the organisers all major sponsors from 2005 have renewed their commitment to support Quit Targa West in 2006, in turn guaranteeing that this year's event promises to be even bigger and better.

The latest to do so is Shannons Insurance which has a long history of passionate involvement with the motoring enthusiast supporting all branches of the sport from car clubs, to show’n’shines, concours, races and rallies across the country.

Speaking on behalf of the organiser, Quit Targa West Director Chris Wilson commented; “We are delighted to have Shannons onboard for a second year and we hope this will develop into a longterm partnership as the event grows in stature and importance here in WA.

"It is important to us that all of our sponsor partners are passionate about what we are doing and why they want to be involved. In this respect Shannons are the ideal sponsor partner.”

He went on to say that, “The unique nature of a Targa event such as ours is the wide array of cars from the 1960s to the current day embracing just about every make and model from your Ford and Holden muscle cars to all kinds of interesting and exotic machinery from around the World. In fact, if you were to take a cross section of all the cars Shannons insure across Australia, you would probably find one of each running in our event!”

Shannons' Shayne Attwater, WA Business Development Manager stated: “We were really pleased with what the organisers of Quit Targa West achieved with the inaugural event and as a result see this as one of the most significant events in the State. Tarmac rally events are one of the fastest growing areas of motorsport across Australia at the moment and we are delighted to of been able to support Quit Targa West here in WA from day one.”
