Unveiled at the North American International Auto Show early this year, the MINI Cabrio Sidewalk has been released Down Under, with all the normal R50 model options.
Pricing for the high-specification Sidewalk model, which is based on the Cooper cabrio released in 2005, starts from $42,100.
For $51,100, a buyer can opt for the Cooper S variant with six-speed manual transmission.
The new level of trim tops the range and offers a number of luxury features not fitted to the standard cars or the MINI Cooper Chilli models (more here).
Among these are Malt Brown leather trim with fluted seat facings and silver piping, two-tone multi-function sports steering wheel, high-gloss finish for the dashboard and door surrounds, gunmetal floor mats, unique badging and Chrome Line trim package.
In addition, the MINI Cabrio Sidewalk boasts the 'Cockpit Chrono Pack', sports seating, on-board computer and a storage package.
Standard safety features of the Sidewalk models include an electronic stability program ('ASC + T'), front fog lights and Xenon headlights.
Colours available are the White/Silver paint scheme, Sparkling Silver, British Racing Green or Astro Black. 'Night Spoke' 17-inch alloy wheels are finished in silver and anthracite.
The Sidewalk model is sold with all the regular drivetrain options; naturally-aspirated with five-speed manual or CVT; supercharged Cooper S with six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
The next generation R56 MINI Cabrio is not expected until mid 2008.
