There is nothing quite like seeing the cars owned by our favourite celebrities, especially when they come up for auction.
Online classic car auctioneer, The Market will be putting the luxury Italian sedan first owned by Sir Elton John under the hammer in the UK. The Verde Green Maserati is expected to sell for between £15,000 ($26,789 AUD) and £40,000 ($71,439 AUD) in the online sale.
The Maserati Quattroporte was first added to Sir Elton’s extensive car collection in 2005 and includes all the luxurious features and extras you’d expect a rockstar to have in their mid-2000s sports car.
The Maserati comes with ventilated, adaptive, massaging rear seats, rear air-conditioning controls, veneered retractable rear tables and curtain shades. It also comes with Sat-nav, of course, should you inadvertently stray from the yellow brick road, and it has a Bose surround sound Hi-Fi system. It even has a front armrest fridge.
Some of the added bells and whistles of mid-noughties nostalgia include a rear DVD player and screen, games input, two headphones, remote control and a six-CD autochanger. Perfect to fill with all of Sir Elton’s best of CDs (which the sale also includes).
The winning bidder will also receive a number of special and unique extras including the official Maserati welcome letter addressed to ‘Mr John’ and a copy of the original V5 certificate donning Sir Elton’s name and the current number plates.
“Sir Elton is a national treasure and a global superstar, who has impeccable taste when it comes to buying cars,” says Tristan Judge, director, The Market.
“Indeed, the car is in excellent condition and has evidentially been treated like a celebrity itself over the years.”
“This is a very special opportunity for worlds to collide for enthusiasts of both music and collectible cars, grabbing themselves a genuine piece of memorabilia. The vehicle’s new owner will be able to enjoy the kind of luxury drive you can expect from a top of the range Italian beauty, as well as revel in the history this car has had in the hands of a music icon.”
The current owner purchased the vehicle back in 2016 and has only added an extra 1,000 miles (1,609 km) to the odometer. The 16-year-old car has only ever travelled 28,493 miles (45,855 km) in its lifetime. It has also been dry stored for some of that time, adding to its well-preserved condition.
The auction of Sir Elton’s former Maserati Quattroporte will begin on Thursday 18th February and end on Thursday 25th February 2021.
Sir Elton John has owned an extensive collection of vehicles over the years which have included several Bentleys, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martins, and Ferraris. In 2001, he sold a large chunk of his collection at auction, saying that he wanted other people to enjoy them.
