Skoda Australia has rolled out capped-price servicing to all its models, following its toe-in-the-water test with the new Octavia launched last October. That means the Fabia small car, Octavia medium car, Yeti compact SUV and Superb large car are all offered with set price service costs at set intervals.
The new servicing regime lasts for six years or 90,000km, whichever arrives first in the car's life.
Skoda's new cars require servicing once every 12 months or 15,000km, with pricing starting at $269 per service for the new Octavia. All examinations include replacement of "regular" service items says Skoda, like engine oil, oil filters and sump plug washers.
The new after-sales servicing strategy is designed to attract more customers to the Czech brand, by offering peace of mind when scheduled services are due.
All models sold through the Skoda Dealer Network from February 8, 2014 (and new 2014 Octavia models sold since November 1, 2013) are eligible.
The Skoda Fabia is the cheapest model to service, with total costs over six years or 90,000km costing $2398, while the most expensive servicing costs are for the Yeti, at $3215.
New models coming to Australia in future will also be offered with capped-price servicing, including the budget-priced Rapid Spaceback compact wagon, launching here in May for under $20,000.
All models in the Skoda range come with a three-year, unlimited kilometre warranty. Three years' free roadside assist is also bundled with all Skodas.
In an eerie coincidence, Skoda sold 2330 cars in 2013, exactly the same
number of cars it sold in 2012. The company hasn't had a great start to
2014, selling just 142 vehicles, a 17 per cent drop on last year's
January tally of 171.
