Skoda has released pictures of its facelifted version of its flagship Octavia RS that goes on sale in 2017.
Like the recently revealed Octavia hatch, it too gains a Kodiaq-inspired look that features a pair of full LED "split" headlights and a redesigned front bumper. Both are claimed to give the hatch and wagon a wider, sportier stance.
At the rear of the Octavia there's a revised black-painted diffuser and a pair of new LED tail lamps that feature a C-Shaped light signature.
Inside, the 2017MY Skoda gains the option of Alcantara-trimmed sport seats.
It’s in the cabin of the updated Octavia RS you’ll also fine the car maker's latest touchscreen infotainment system that, in the range-topping Columbus system, offers a large 9.2-inch display that comes with a mobile WIFI hotspot.
Under the bonnet the big news is the old 162kW 2.0-litre turbo that powered the Octavia RS 162 TSI is dropped.
Now there is only the option of the faster 169kW 2.0-litre that currently powers the Octavia RS 230 169 TSI.
The diesel also carries over in the updated range but the 125kW 2.0-litre TDI and, in some markets, now comes with the option of all-wheel drive.
Like before the fastest Octavia RS is the 169 TSI-equipped car that can hit 100km/h in 6.7 seconds and top out at a limited 250km/h.
The fast petrol is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox.
The diesel, meanwhile, comes with a DIY cog-swapping option in Europe but our cars are likely to be DSG-only.
Handling for both two- and four-wheel drive Octavia RSs has been improved, the car maker claims thanks to new chassis tweaks. All models now ride on 15mm lower sport suspension with a front and rear track widened by 30mm.
Standard wheels for the Octavia RS remain 18-inch alloys with the option of larger 19s.
As well as the chassis revisions the Octavia RS comes with Dynamic Chassis Control as standard that offers a Sport, Normal and Comfort modes that adjust steering weighting, throttle response and the electronic diff in the fastest 169 TSI version.
Finally, the updated Octavia RS now comes with Trailer Assist, Blind Spot detection and a rear traffic alert. If the standard autonomous emergency braking sensors detect an imminent accident, the small Skoda also automatically closes the sunroof and windows, if open.
The revised versions of fastest Octavia should arrive along with the rest of the facelifted range around the middle of next year. Prices will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
