Skoda Australia has announced the arrival of a limited-edition Superb Scout 4x4 ahead of the facelifted Skoda Superb sedan and wagon range, which has been delayed until late 2020.
As we’ve previously reported, the Czech car-maker has secure “several hundred” Scout wagon models to sell ahead of the updated range’s arrival.
Priced from $59,490 before on-road costs and available now, the Skoda Superb Scout crossover is powered by a 200kW/350Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch auto that sends power to all four wheels.
In a first for the brand in Australia, the Superb Scout will debut a new petrol particulate filter that requires the vehicle to run on 98-octane premium unleaded petrol.
Skoda says the Superb Scout is ‘both a grand tourer and an off-roader’, with increased ground clearance (+15mm compared to standard Superb wagons), an off-road driving mode, alloy bash plates and underbody protection.
Other standard equipment includes Matrix LED headlights – a first for Skoda in Australia – that can shade oncoming vehicles from its high beam so as not to dazzle other road users while keeping them on the road ahead, along with LED tail-lights with dynamic indicators and front fog lights with corner functionality.
Inside the cabin, Superb Scout models get a large 9.2-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio and wireless phone charging, along with driver assist features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, tyre pressure monitoring, park assist and lane keeping assist.
Luggage capacity is rated at 600 litres with the rear seats in place, extending to 1950 litres once the rear seats are folded.
Heated seats are standard all round, while the front row gets electric adjustment with memory function. The three-spoke steering wheel is fitted with shift paddles and is also heated.
Other standard features include adaptive chassis control with multiple driving modes, 18-inch polished wheels, nine airbags, tinted windows and stainless steel pedal covers.
A panoramic glass sunroof can be optioned for $1900, as can Tangerine ($1700) or Velvet Red ($1100) exterior colour options. Metallic or pearl effect paint is an extra $770.
Of course, Skoda Australia’s standard five-year warranty is carried over on the Superb Scout.
