smart BRABUS coming Down Under

smart Australia revealed the bold Brabus-enhanced forfour model at Sydney.

smart Australia's Brabus-enhanced forfour model was unveiled at Sydney and confirmed for local distribution.

The Brabus version beefs-up the forfour's output to 130kW via a 1.5lt turbocharged engine, enabling a top speed of 221km/h. Weighing only 1090kgs the Brabus forfour has an impressive power-to-weight ratio (8.4kg per kW) and can manage 0-100km/h in just under seven seconds. Styling enhancements include mesh inserts in the front grille and Brabus roof spoiler.

The Brabus is aimed at the likes of Golf's GTi and Megane 225. Standard features include driver and passenger airbags, esp and four-wheel disc brakes.

Suspension has been fettled too. The Brabus fourfour's underspinnings have been strengthened and upsized (including wishbones and wheel hubs and caliper mounts), spring and damper rates optimised and ride height lowered approx 30mm.

AMG-style twin-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels are fitted and wear Michelin Pilot Sport tyres (205/40 fr, 225/35 rr).

The Brabus forfour is offered with a five-speed manual only. Prices start at $39,990. Available early 2006.
