Special, limited edition Subaru Forester

Subaru is offering a limited number of specially equipped Forester X Weekenders.

The Special Edition Forester comes with leather steering wheel and trim, alloy wheels, rear spoiler and tinted rear windows -- Subaru says $6600 worth of extra kit -- for $1800 more than the standard Forester X.

Only 500 will be available, starting at $33,790.

The Weekender is the latest in an almost weekly assault of Subaru added-value packages this year. A Subaru source told CarPoint this week the sales strategy had been "effective" but also said that the run of special editions had "just about come to a close."
