Skoda Australia has announced pricing for the new petrol and diesel Octavia RS models that have just joined the brand's line-up. The facelifted duo has been priced to compete in the hot hatch segment against the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Ford Focus XR5 Turbo.
Available with either a petrol or diesel engine, the new-look Octavia RS is priced from $37,990 (manufacturer's list price, not including dealer and government charges) for the Liftback petrol model and $39,990 for the wagon, while the diesel models start at $39,990 and $41,990 for the liftback and wagon models respectively.
The new prices represent a $300 jump for petrol and diesel engines, and both motors are available with an optional six-speed DSG transmission for $2300.
Most of the changes to the new model Octavia are cosmetic and full information on them can be found in our international launch report.
In addition to producing 147kW of power the 2.0 TFSI pumps out 280Nm of torque at 1800rpm but sips fuel at the rate of 7.7L/100km. The TDI betters those numbers with 350Nm of torque available from 1750rpm and claimed fuel consumption of 5.9L/100km.
If history is a guide then Australia buyers will be split between the Liftback and wagon body styles, according to Skoda.
