New spy photos of the 2015 Land Rover Freelander have surfaced, snapped by Automedia's photographers.
Taken while undergoing pre-production testing in Germany, these pictures showcase a much larger model than the outgoing Freelander.
Land Rover may kill off the Freelander name and already this new model is being dubbed the 'baby' Discovery, rumoured to based upon the same platform as the five-door Range Rover Evoque to keep costs in check.
Despite the camouflage wrapping, it's clear the updated design has taken cues from the Range Rover Sport and Evoque, opting for smoother styling with a slightly sloping roofline and sleeker, less boxy headlights.
The rear end is finished off with a small but noticeable roof spoiler and a dual exhaust system.
Although no engine specifications have been confirmed, we suspect the engine options from the Range Rover Evoque will carry over to the new Freelander. That means there will be choices between a 177kW 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, or a 110kW or a 140kW 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine.
