SPY PICS: 2024 Isuzu D-MAX set for big upgrade

Major design overhaul coming for Isuzu Ute’s popular D-MAX, as shown by spy pics out of Thailand

Having already undergone a minor facelift for the 2023 model year, a more substantial upgrade appears to be on the way for the 2024 Isuzu D-MAX ute – judging by spy photos out of Thailand.

Shared on Instagram by kurdistan_automotive_blog_, the images uncover a batch of 2024 D-MAX dual-cabs fitted with a fresh front fascia, redesigned headlights and new wheel-arch extensions, the latter typically exclusive to the Thai-spec V-Cross – the equivalent of our X-Terrain.

Another image shows the new front-end will be matched by redesigned tail-light clusters, and we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a new wheel design hiding beneath the pre-delivery film.

From the images, we can see the new D-MAX’s headlights now mimic those of the related MU-X SUV, while the grille’s signature fangs have been moved outboard and point in rather than down.

The primary intake has been enlarged and reshaped accordingly, complemented by drastically different fog light bezels that have been widened, darkened and set further back into the fascia.

A new contrasting bumper garnish rounds out the obvious changes to the front-end of the V-Cross.

We’re yet to see lesser model grades, and given Isuzu Ute has not yet announced details of the incoming overhaul, the 2024 D-MAX’s interior redesign and mechanical changes (if any) are still to be confirmed.

Isuzu Ute Australia said it was unable to comment on future model plans, “including those of the rumoured facelifted D-MAX in Thailand”.

However, a spokesperson said the company is constantly monitoring the market “to ensure that any local product updates meet the Australian market’s requirements before committing to any changes locally”.

carsales understands that the facelifted D-MAX will be officially revealed soon, with first customer deliveries following shortly in Thailand, where the ute is built.

The 2023 update for the Australian-market D-MAX and MU-X brought revisions to the grille design, alloy wheels and cabin upholstery patterns, while tyre pressure monitoring and a tow mode (automatic deactivation) for the blind spot monitoring system were added.
