SPY PICS: 2025 LDV Terron 9 in Australia

LDV’s next-generation ute spotted testing on Aussie roads ahead of showroom launch in early 2025

Just when you thought the ute segment couldn’t get any busier, along comes the 2025 LDV Terron 9 which was recently spotted testing in broad daylight new Newcastle.

It’s not clear whether the new-generation dual-cab in question is the 2.5-litre turbo-diesel Terron 9 or the all-electric eTerron 9, but both models have been green lit for sale in Australia, confirmed recently via Australian Government vehicle approval documentation.

LDV Australia has also officially confirmed the eTerron 9 will be arrive in Australia in ‘early 2025’ via its website as the successor to the unloved LDV eT60 – Australia’s first electric ute.

The spy video was shot and submitted by a carsales reader this week and shows the Terron 9 wrapped in a full pre-production camo wrap, despite the model having already made its global debut.

Fitted with a tow bar and looking far more conventional than the controversially designed Kia Tasman, the latest LDV ute (badged as a Maxus overseas) has been approved for sale in Australia, with combustion engine versions set to feature a 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine good for 164kW.

Torque figures are as yet unknown but expect at least 500Nm given the towing capacity has lifted from the T60’s 3000kg to 3500kg.

The previously mentioned government documents also reveal that both EV and ICE utes can tow 3500kg, and that they’re big brutes too, measuring 5500mm long, 1997mm wide and sitting on a 3300mm wheelbase.

That means the LDV Terron 9 is longer and wider than most of its dual-cab pick-up truck peers, including the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.

The 2.5-litre diesel is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, driving either the rear (4x2) or all four wheels (4x4).

Although the all-electric LDV eTerron 9 will be more expensive than its diesel sibling, it will be offered in single- (4x2) and dual-motor (4x4) configurations, pumping out 200kW and 325kW respectively.

The latter is claimed to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.8 seconds and draws power from a hefty 102kWh lithium-ion battery pack, gifting it a claimed WLTP range of up to 430km.

The interior design of the new eTerron 9 revealed by LDV Australia shows an ultra-modern cabin fit-out, with a pair of large 12.3-inch screens dominating the dash and plenty of interior storage options.

EV versions of the Terron 9 also feature a frunk.
