Our spy snappers have just spotted the missing piece of Mercedes-Benz’s flourishing battery-electric EQ model portfolio in the form of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQC sedan, which was photographed leaving and returning to one of the German brand’s facilities earlier this month.
Destined to go toe-to-toe with the Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2, Hyundai IONIQ 6 and BYD Seal, the upcoming and reborn EQC – a name first applied to a discontinued mid-size SUV and Merc’s inaugural EV – looks to have all the hallmarks of a mid-size electric premium sports sedan with a fastback roofline, big wheels and evenly proportioned silhouette.
Tipped to be one of the volume-sellers in the EQ range, in the same way the equivalent C-Class is one of Benz’s most popular combustion models, the EQC will benefit from the latest developments in battery, motor and connectivity technology, with new brand benchmarks for energy density and/or motor efficiency likely to be set.
Details are predictably thin on the ground for now, but it seems the first EQC sedan will launch at roughly the same time as the second-generation EQC SUV, which was spotted testing in August last year and will join the bigger EQE and EQS crossover wagons.
Our sources tell us the four-door package will be full of sustainably-sourced materials and largely produced using green practises, which in combination with the previously mentioned tech and powertrain advancements should help lower the model’s total carbon footprint.
But what’s hiding under all that camo?
The answer could be one of the best-looking EQ models to date, judging by some unofficial renders that have surfaced recently at Russian website Kolesa.ru, which forecast an aggressive front fascia that looks as angry as it is streamlined, headlined by a frowning lighting arrangement, AMG-inspired bumper and enclosed nose.
Adding some extra menace to the ensemble are flared wheel-arches, a slinky ride height and contrasting black trim, which works well with the AMG-like black alloy wheels.
The rendered EQC rear-end, meantime, clearly takes inspiration from the bigger EQE and EQS sedans, albeit with more of a shortened bobtail look compared to the more flowing lines of the limos.
It’s really only a matter of time before a full-fat AMG version of the EQC sedan is announced and spotted testing, but for now we hope the production version ends up looking like this render when it’s released in Europe sometime next year.
