Our Nürburgring spy photographers have spotted the monstrous 2026 Chevrolet Corvette Zora lapping the Green Hell looking every bit as aggressive as it ought to with close to 900kW on tap.
Tipped to be the unhinged combination of the latest ZR1 and electrified E-Ray, the Zora is expected to pair the former’s twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre cross-plane V8 with the latter’s hybrid and all-wheel drive systems to emerge the most formidable Corvette in history.
The camouflaged prototype was fitted with the same ZTK package optionally available on the already bananas ZR1, comprising some serious carbon-fibre aero appendages front and rear along with stiffer springs and semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, though we wouldn’t be surprised if the pack is include as standard on the production version.
With our trainspotters hats on and plenty of zoom, we can see the car is fitted with the E-Ray’s stacked radiator design despite wearing a ZR1 body and aero.
The Lord only knows what sort of performance the finished Zora will offer seeing as the E-Ray is good for 0-100km/h in 2.5 seconds while the ZR1 is tipped to lay down a sub-10-second standing quarter-mile time on its way to a top speed approaching 350km/h.
That immense circa-900kW peak power figure will undoubtedly come hand-in-hand with an enormous torque figure seeing as the ZR1 is good for a tyre-shredding 1123Nm – without the help of any electric motors.
We’d hazard an educated guess at the Zora outputting a combined 900kW/1400Nm at the very least, especially if engineers turn up the wick of the screaming V8 or e-motor.
Chevrolet was spotted testing a Ferrari SF90 Stradale against a pack of camouflaged Corvette prototypes earlier this year which seems awfully convenient seeing as the exotic Fezza also happens to feature a twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive.
It should be noted though the electrified SF90 outputs less power and torque than the purely internal combustion ZR1, leading some to speculate it was being benchmarked against the ZR1 in the lead-up to its global reveal rather than the Zora.
Either way, GM is clearly doing its homework.
