The new BMW 6 Series convertible has been spied again, a little clearer this time. There's less paisley camo and the new shape plainly signals an end to the brand's 'Bangle-butt' design era.
Sporting new, larger kidney grilles and reshaped headlamps, the new 6 Series will likely be available here in both coupe and cabriolet variants, the latter a true soft top with a retractable canvas roof.
The car appears to have a slightly longer wheelbase than the current model, though overhangs are short, making for a sleeker, sportier profile. A lower roofline and reduced ride height adding to that 'go fast' look.
Inspired by the CS Concept, the new 6 Series will draw many of its design cues from the recently released 5 Series, sharing a familiar platform and, presumably, engine line-up.
Whispers from master spy photographers, Carparazzi, tell us a hotter 'M' version is likely, the sporty version rumoured to feature a twin-turbocharged V8 -- per current X5 M and X6 M -- in lieu of the existing V10. The new engine will most probably be mated to BMW's seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. A diesel option will also be available, and even a hybrid is likely.
The new BMW 6 Series is slated to make its first official public appearance at this year's Paris Motor Show in September, with the car hitting showrooms before the end of the year.
Pricing and full specifications will be released closer to the official launch.
