SPY PICS: A Corollary of the Rondo kind

Toyota is developing the next generation of its mini people mover for the European market

Toyota's Auris Verso is a European market mini MPV based on the Auris hatch (our Corolla hatch). Pictures here, supplied by our water-resistant spy photographers at Carparazzi, show the next generation of Auris Verso undergoing testing on a skidpan.

Mechanically, the Verso, Auris and Corolla (sedan only in Europe) share components under the skin, but the Verso is a seven-seater and is visually different again from the Auris and the Corolla.

According to the blokes at Carparazzi, the Auris Verso -- which may drop the Auris label in favour of 'Verso' alone -- will be offered in Europe with a range of petrol and diesel engines. The new model will likely be launched in Europe next year.

Our view is that if sales of Kia's Rondo (more here) take off in Australia, product planners at TMCA are likely to fast-track the local evaluation of this Toyota -- Broadmeadows will give the Ford Focus C-Max a long, hard look too.
