Audi's Q5 SUV is well overdue for a facelift but, other than showing the company is up to something, these Carparazzi spy pics of a test mule cavorting in the snow don't give much of a clue to what a refreshed version might look like.
Other than a strange piece of chrome trim at the top outer corners of the full-frame grille -- and the suggestion of a hexagonal, rather than as vertical-slatted infill - there are no real giveaways.
Even the headlights look identical to the current Q5 -- although Carparazzi claims they aren't -- as are the front and rear bumpers that are the usual likely suspects for a facelift.
Carparazzi says the test mule was badged as a 3.0T quattro, which could mean a new engine for the Q5 (currently the engine lineup includes 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, a 3.0-litre diesel and a 3.2-litre petrol), or
simply that Audi has stuck a phony badge on the car to confuse onlookers.
The supercharged 3.0-litre petrol TFSI V6 produces as much as 245kW/440Nm and is currently employed in the likes of Q7, A7, and A5 Sportback and coupe Audis. The mule's single exhaust suggests something less.
Hopefully we'll see more of the Q5 facelift during the year…
