SPY PICS: Audi's first SQ7 spotted without cammo

Audi's hard-charging family SUV spied in the raw near Nürburgring

Camouflage-free and clearly sporting a TDI badge, the Audi SQ7 has again been spotted testing.

There's nothing in the photos to suggest the high-output turbo-diesel will feature the supplementary electric turbochargers we've heard so much about, although the pics do give us a clear look at the model's quad exhaust tips and re-profiled bumpers.

The prototype also shows the fascia expected to be worn by the SQ7. Like its SQ5 sibling, the SQ7 offers vented portals either side of the low-mount foglights, exposing intercoolers that suggest the engine could offer traditional turbo or supercharging.

It's also apparent the model offers some pretty substantial ceramic brake rotors, likely grabbed by six-piston callipers at the front and four-pots at the rear.

Audi has told motoring.com.au previously that the new SQ7 could make its public debut as early as this year's Frankfurt motor show, but has yet to divulge exactly which powerplant will feature under the bonnet.

The engine might be an enhanced version of the 3.0-litre V6 TDI found powering the regular Q7, though speculation has it a twin-turbo TFSI V8 – already found powering a handful of Audi's S and RS variants, as well as Bentleys – could make it to production.
