SPY PICS: Chevy Camaro spotted testing

Next generation GM pony car reveals its basic shapes for spy cameras
GM's plans for future Camaros have suddenly swung into focus as Holden settles on replacement platforms for its next generation of rear-drive cars.
The flexible Alpha platform – already underpinning Cadillac's ATS and due to appear under the next generation Camaro and Chevrolet SS – is the basis for GM's next pony car, which is being mooted as a possible role-layer in future hot Holden (or maybe even Chevy) line-ups in Australia.
These Automedia spy pics snapped recently of a prototype Camaro at the Nurburgring in Germany hint at the basic outline of the next-gen two-door coupe that is expected to be revealed in its final form for the US market in late 2015, as a 2016 model year vehicle.
Word is that the next Camaro will be bigger than before, but lighter. Speculation is that it will use the same wheelbase as the Cadillac ATS and will offer a range of  both normally aspirated and supercharged V6 and V8 engines – as well, possibly, as a 2.0-litre turbo borrowed from the Cadillac ATS to counteract Ford's four-cylinder EcoBoost Mustang.
Transmissions are expected to include a six-speed manual, as well as the option of GM's new eight-speed automatic.
The Alpha platform should bring not just lighter weight but, with a reported 50-50 weight distribution, improved overall balance. It has also been designed for rear-drive and all-wheel drive applications.
The next-gen Camaro's styling, in the manner of most things US-based, looks to be evolutionary. It's slinkier though, with minimal front and rear overhangs, slot-style headlights integrated into a full-width grille overseeing an air-gulping lower intake, and a quad-exhaust rear end with high-set taillights.
The final details won't be seen for a while yet, but a generally more flowing styling theme appears in the less sharply-defined musculature of the Camaro's bonnet and the squat roof with its horizontally-biased glassware. It has already been likened to the Camaro-based Bumblebee that appears in the latest Transformers movie.
