SPY PICS: Demon-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee spied
Could Jeep be planning an even higher performance SUV?Spy pictures of a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee have surfaced, leading to speculation the US off-road brand will release an even more powerful special-edition version of the already-mad Trackhawk before the next-generation large SUV arrives.
Photographed through barbed-wire fencing in the US, the super-SUV’s bonnet is covered by white wrap, but we can spot an obvious bulge underneath, where a big bonnet scoop appears to reside.
Also sparking rumours of a special ‘run-out’ edition Demon Trackhawk powered by a beefier supercharged V8 is the fact the Grand Cherokee spotted here is parked alongside a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.
If they prove correct, expect to see an extra 60-70kW of power over the Trackhawk’s already brutal 6.2-litre supercharged V8, in turn making it the most powerful SUV on the market – topping the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is already the world’s quickest and most powerful SUV, with a 0-100km/h time of 3.6 seconds and outputs of 527kW/874Nm.
Whether a Demon version would match the 2.8sec pace and incredible 635kW/1146Nm and 755kW/1314Nm outputs offered by Texan tuner Hennessey remains to be seen.
Of course, Jeep is yet to announce any such special-edition as it continues to develop the all-new 2020 Grand Cherokee, which is due for global launch by the end of next year.
