SPY PICS: Disco fever

Land Rover gets first facelift since 2008 takeover by Indian car company Tata

Land Rover's Discovery 3 has been around since April 2005 and has had one minor update during the intervening years.

Now, there's another change upcoming with a couple of more noticeable mods aimed at giving the capable off-roader a subtle freshen-up.

But don't get too excited. Apart from the usual rework of front and rear bumpers, as well as new side mirrors and maybe some grille fiddling there's not much to talk about.

In fact the only other thing we can pick is that the Disco may have ditched the asymmetrical layout for the air vents in the front mudguards.

Once it wasn't deemed necessary to have air vents behind the front mudguards on both sides of the vehicle. But according to these Carparazzi pics shot in northern Sweden, where there was once only a vent on the driver's side, there's now one on the passenger's side as well. Whether it's real, or just a dummy, we'll just have to wait to find out...

Up back, it's likely to be less exciting, but at least it looks as though there'll be new side sills and taillight lenses even if we can't really spy anything of note about the bumper assemblies.

This will be the first change in the iconic British 4WD since Ford handed ownership to Indian car company Tata in mid 2008, but it could be expected that Ford will continue to supply vital mechanical components. It would be unlikely to see any changes in engines or transmissions.
