Just days after Denza officially launched in Australia, a third model from BYD’s luxury brand has been spotted charging in a Woolworths car park in Melbourne’s south-east.
Denza’s arrival in Australia has barely begun – with the B5 and B8 plug-in hybrid SUVs now on sale from $75,000 and just over $90,000 respectively – yet the D9 has quickly emerged as the most likely model to join the line-up next.
At the opening of Denza’s Sydney showroom, COO Mark Harland confirmed several additional models were under evaluation for 2026, though final decisions were still pending.

carsales’ sighting of the D9 at a Melbourne Woolies in broad daylight, combined with fresh ADR approval documents circulating online, strongly indicate Denza is preparing for another local introduction.
Adding to the speculation, a blurred outline of the D9 appears on the Denza Australia website under the ‘coming soon’ banner.
In China, the D9 is sold in both pure-electric and plug-in hybrid configurations, each with a seven-seat (2+2+3) layout. Pricing ranges from 309,800 to 526,600 yuan; roughly $66,000 to $112,000 in Australia before local costs.

If confirmed, the D9 would join a fast-growing field of premium electrified people movers, including the GAC M8 PHEV (from $76,590), LDV Mifa 9 (from $104,000), Zeekr 009 (from $115,900) and the far pricier Lexus LM (from $163,520). Grey-import Toyota Alphards also continue to filter into the local market.
