SPY PICS: Entire 2019 Chevrolet Camaro range caught on camera
GM muscle car to get revised looks, updated engines and transmissions plus, possibly, a Z/28The full range of Chevrolet’s imminent sixth-generation Camaro has been spied outside GM’s North American proving grounds in Milford, Michigan.
These Automedia sneak pics show a wide cross section of revised Camaros, including 1LT, ZL1 and SS coupe and convertible. Indications – such as the extensive cladding which has been applied – point to some extensive reworking of both front and rear ends.
Industry scuttlebutt suggests the refreshed Camaro range, which includes turbo four, V6 and V8-engined variants, will receive driveline updates aimed at improving both performance and fuel consumption. Wider application is expected for the 10-speed automatic transmission which debuted in the Z1 model last year.
A much-discussed and tantalising prospect for the long-time muscle car is a naturally-aspirated 5.5-litre DOHC V8 Z/28 Camaro producing as much as 520kW.
Despite some speculation, the all-new version of GM’s Ford Mustang rival is not currently slated for right-hand-drive production and remains an unlikely starter in Australia.
The reworked Chevrolet Camaro will go on sale in North America in the second half of 2018, designated as a 2019 model.
