Test engineers at John Cooper Works have been racking up the overtime evaluating high-performance versions of the MINI Roadster and the Countryman at the Nurburgring.
Spotted here by the spy photographers at Carparazzi, the two new variants gave the game away with features befitting go-fast models. In the case of the Roadster (yet to be released), the JCW version is kitted out with a retractable rear spoiler, extra tail lights and twin exhausts exiting in the centre of the bumper.
Only lightly disguised, the JCW Countryman is distinguished from the garden variety models by its body kit, vented bonnet, larger brakes and wheels. According to Carparazzi, the JCW models will be powered by a 154kW turbocharged 1.6-litre four, producing 280Nm and driving through a six-speed manual transmission to the front wheels. Estimated time to 100km/h is 7.0 seconds.
