SPY PICS: Facelifted 2024 Cupra Born spotted testing

Exterior design tweaks a maybe a cabin upgrade for all-electric warm hatch

Following in the wheel tracks of the related but still upcoming Volkswagen ID.3, the recently released Cupra Born electric hatch is already coming in for a mid-life update and judging by these fresh spy images, the design changes will be rather major.

Up front, the most obvious change will be the size, shape and texture of the lower (main) grille, which means there’ll also be a new front bumper and, if the recently sighted Leon and Formentor facelifts are any guide, redesigned headlight clusters.

It’s hard to tell what else has changed but it also looks like designers have done away with the Born’s narrow upper grille, something we understand will be a key part of Cupra’s new design language going forward.

The semi-disguised prototype is rolling on a set of aggressive pre-production alloy wheels, which round out the clear styling updates. The strip of camouflage on the tailgate is there to mask the badging, even though it’s pretty clear the vehicle in question is a Cupra Born.

Using the facelifted ID.3 for guidance, we’d hazard a guess the new Born will also score an overhauled interior, upgraded infotainment system and possibly even some battery efficiency tweaks.

It’ll be a while before we find out though – the (facelifted) VW ID.3 isn’t due in Australia until early next year and the updated Born hasn’t even been revealed yet, suggesting we won’t see it here until the second half of next year, depending on when it makes its global debut.
