SPY PICS: Facelifted Mercedes-Benz CLS in the wings
Spy photographers capture updated Benz four-door “coupe” prototype undergoing winter testingNot too many changes are evident in these photos captured by spy-pic specialists Automedia of a prototype Mercedes-Benz CLS winter testing in Europe.
About the only indicators that the rakish Benz four-door “coupe” is in line for any changes are the covers below the headlights suggesting a new air intake arrangement and a black grille cover that may or may not hide something new.
Likewise at the back end, a bit of taping over the taillight lenses and the bumper area at least encourage some speculation about what may lie beneath.
Inside, the CLS-Class is expected to get a redesigned steering wheel, as well as a larger display for the COMAND system.
The updated CLS, which is anticipated to debut in its primary markets towards the end of the year, is rumoured to be the recipient of the new Benz 9G-TRONIC nine-speed auto transmission, although the engine lineup is expected to mostly replicate the existing range.
It could also be the CLS will adopt a lot of the technology used in the new S-Class, including the new Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus system, Pre-SAFE BRAKE, DISTRONIC PLUS, Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and Attention Assist to warn the driver that fatigue is setting in.
