SPY PICS: Fast-tracking AMG-enhanced Benz CLA

Mini-CLS will turn heads faster with AMG mechanicals underneath
Recaro sports seats and a hefty roll cage say it all about the car in these pics. This is AMG's version of the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
The spy photographers at Carparazzi have brought us pics of the Mercedes-Benz CLA in the past, but previous images of the high-performance version, expected to be named CLA 45 AMG, have show a mule wearing B-Class bodywork.
Like the standard CLA, which is a smaller sedan boasting CLS proportions and styling cues, the AMG model is built on the MFA platform that also underpins A-Class and B-Class models. Power is sourced from a 330hp four-cylinder turbocharged engine under the CLA's bonnet. Displacing 2.0 litres, the engine drives through AMG's SPEEDSHIFT seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to all four wheels.
The drivetrain components are shared with the A45 AMG /news/2012/small-passenger/mercedes-benz/first-details-mercedes-a45-amg-hot-hatch-30807 that will arrive in Australia next year. Carparazzi anticipates the CLA 45 AMG should be able to peel off a 0-100km/h time below five seconds and, as with other AMG models, there will be an option on the table to raise the car's top speed above the electronically limited ceiling of 250km/h.
