SPY PICS: Ferrari Purosangue just around the corner

Ferrari’s first SUV spotted on the streets of Maranello

The Ferrari Purosangue SUV has been spotted testing once again ahead of its anticipated official debut in the first half of 2022.

The Italian supercar brand’s inaugural SUV can be seen here shrouded in camouflage testing on the streets of Maranello near Ferrari HQ.

In the past, Ferrari engineers have tested Purosangue prototype vehicles masquerading as heavily butchered Maserati Levante models, making this the best look yet at the all-new Ferrari SUV’s actual shape and form.

Despite the extensive cladding, there are some key take-aways from the test mule. Chiefly, its unusually low-slung SUV stance looks as though it will carry through to the production version, which will come complete with carbon-ceramic brakes and four exhaust outlets.

The long snout and stubby rear profile adorned with the Prancing Horse badge also looks set to carry through to Ferrari’s first SUV model, with the Purosangue employing a long bonnet and heavily raked rear-end.

Fitted with alloy wheels borrowed from the Roma coupe, the test mule features hidden door-handles that are purportedly inspired by the Alfa Romeo 147, but also bear close resemblance to more modern vehicles including the Toyota C-HR.

Look closely and there’s also a couple of key fabric squares over the top of the rear wheels – designating where both the fuel flap and charging port flap will reside on the Purosangue.

That’s because Ferrari’s breakthrough SUV is set to be available with a twin-turbo V6-based plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain similar to that powering the new Ferrari 296 GTB.

Developed under the F175 codename, Maranello’s first SUV is set to be underpinned by a new platform that will also be used for future front/mid-engines Ferrari GTs.

Already confirmed for Australia, the Purosangue will measure up at more than five metres long and feature a new height-adjustable suspension system.

Inside, the Ferrari SUV is set to debut an all-new cabin design featuring a new steering wheel, infotainment system, head-up display and instruments.

For the first time in a Ferrari, rear-seat entertainment and comfort has also been a priority during development, given the new model will compete indirectly with numerous uber-luxury s SUVs including the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Its broad focus will also enable the Ferrari Purosangue to be cross-shopped against more performance-inclined super-premium SUVs including the Aston Martin DBX, Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus.
