Spy photographers in the US have captured a closer look at what’s set to be Ford's first production electric SUV.
These new spy photos provide a much clearer view of the high-performance EV, including its curvaceous wheel arched, sporty, swept-back roof line and small roof spoiler.
Just months away from its official 2020 launch, all we’ve seen of the Ford Mach E so far have been heavily cloaked test mules.
But now the wraps are virtually off, we can see the Mustang-inspired crossover looks a lot less Mustang-y than expected.
While the triple-bar brake light design is clearly 'Stang-inspired, and there's a familiar shape to its silhouette, the crossover doesn't appear to share much else with the iconic muscle car.
The headlights look skinnier, the oval-shaped grill is much narrower than the 'Stang and the pumped-up crossover appears to have larger proportions than its sports car cousin.
Ford has previously promised the EV will be good for a driving range of around 600km, putting it ahead of rivals like the Tesla Model X.
As previously reported, the Ford Mach E is expected to sell for the equivalent of A$60,000 when it hits showrooms in the US.
Ford is yet to offer an electrified model in Australia but will have its first plug-in hybrid on fleet when the all-new Ford Escape lands in 2020.
