The next-generation 2026 Toyota HiLux has been spotted testing in Thailand again, still closely resembling the current model as its late 2025 global debut inches closer.
A trio of new spy photos have surfaced via the kurdistan_automotive_blog_ Instagram account showing a dual-cab HiLux cruising along a freeway, still draped in detail-bending camouflage and donning a gaping pre-production front bumper.
The prototype actually looks to have regressed compared to the last sighting we had in January; that car had a front fascia and headlights inspired by the RAV4 SUV whereas this latest vehicle looks far more like its predecessor.
With the model widely expected to retain the familiar IMV ladder frame chassis and current 2.8-litre mild hybrid turbo-diesel powertrain, it’s entirely plausible that what we’re looking at is an engineering test mule disguised under and adapted version of the existing body, albeit with a few necessary tweaks.
Whatever’s going on, it’s still abundantly clear the new HiLux will be more of an evolution than revolution when it debuts later this year ahead of its anticipated arrival in local showrooms in early 2026, likely with the Prado’s eight-speed automatic transmission as a primary upgrade.
