Two weeks ago we brought you spy shots of the F-PACE undergoing development testing in southern Europe, and now Jaguar's first SUV has entered cold-weather testing in pre-production prototype guise, as evidenced by these images from the frozen landscape of northern Sweden.
Essentially a production version of the C-X17 concept, the F-PACE is billed by Jaguar's global sales director Andy Goss as “the ultimate practical sports car” and not an SUV or crossover.
Jaguar's 'family sports car' is based on the same new iQ[AI] lightweight platform as the British brand's all-new XE mid-size sedan, with which it will share Jaguar Land Rover's new Ingenium family of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
Jaguar has previously said the C-X17 first seen at the 2013 Frankfurt show is a direct preview of the production F-PACE, which is confirmed for worldwide release next year.
We expect the showroom-ready model to make its global debut later this year, at the Frankfurt or Los Angeles motor shows.
