It's been a long time coming but the Lexus IS-F is finally taking its top off. So to speak...
The Lexus IS-F convertible has been spied undergoing testing with very little camouflage, which gives us the clearest look yet at the differences between the coupe and drop top.
Perhaps the most obvious addition to the IS-F convertible is the large rear wing, and it appears the exhaust pipes have been tweaked subtly. The rear bumper assembly looks a little unfinished compared to the IS-F sedan but may be tweaked ahead of its official launch, expected to be at an American motor show, one of Lexus' most lucrative markets.
Interestingly, the Lexus IS-F is the first V8-powered two-door car in the IS Series, as it will use the same 5.0-litre V8 from its fixed-roof sibling.
Outputting 311kW/505Nm the IS-F convertible outputs a lot more torque than the BMW M3 Convertible, but it may not be quite as quick to 100km/h, expected to complete the benchmark dash in around 4.8 seconds.
It'll be hooked up to an eight-speed automatic gearbox much like the regular IS-F and could easily command a 10-figure premium over the sedan's $126,300 price tag.
