V8-powered BMW M3 CC will be just the thing for sunny days and fast, open roadsBMW is readying the M3 CC for those who like a LOT of wind in the hair. Caught at the famous Nurburgring camera trap by the covert cameramen of Carparazzi, the M3 CC was only thinly disguised.
The E92/93 generation of M3 is the first occasion BMW has dropped a V8 into a 3 Series for the road. Based on the V10 from the M5, according to Carparazzi, the new engine will develop in excess of 400bhp and should propel the M3 to 100km/h in just over five seconds.
The transmission is likely to be a six-speed manual box or the rumoured seven-speed SMG sequential-shift system. Weight distribution should be the optimal 50/50 balance, considering the V8 is a shorter engine than the in-line six of the previous E46 models...and don't forget, the new car has a longer wheelbase also.
Styling cues for the new car are a nod in the direction of the M5 (more here) and include vents in the front quarter panels and four outlets for the exhaust.
The bump in the bonnet and the side intakes are carried over from the concept car displayed at the Geneva motor show earlier this year.
