SPY PICS: Mercedes-Benz C-Class Convertible
Benz' bread-and-butter C-Class model flips its lid in GermanyThe latest spy photography out of Germany shows that Mercedes-Benz is continuing to refine its C-Class convertible.
It was first spotted in April 2014, and these latest shots confirm the prestige car maker is well progressed along the car's development path.
Expected to be launched publicly in 2015, the drop-top is based on the new-generation C-Class (W205) and is a strong chance to be the most affordable convertible offered by the German brand, undercutting the E-Class Convertible and SLK-Class models.
Featuring a metal folding roof, the sporty two-door model is the first-ever C-Class Cabriolet, and will give erstwhile rivals the BMW 4 Series Convertible and Audi A5 Cabriolet a run for their Deutschmarks.
Slotting in underneath the E-Class Convertible, the C-Class drop top will take advantage of all the goodies from the new-generation C-Class, including one of the most appealing and luxurious cabins in its class.
Likewise engine types will mirror the C-Class sedan, wagon and coupe versions, spanning everything from a 125kW/400Nm four-pot diesel to turbo-petrol 2.0-litre units, topping out with the tyre-shredding C 400, a twin-turbo six-cylinder petrol engine that punches out 245kW/480Nm.
