Images of a new MINI Clubman are currently doing the rounds of global media outlets, courtesy of the spy photographers at AutoMedia.
Adding a door on the near side of the new car – and opting for both rear doors to open conventionally – will enhance the new car's utility and likely broaden its appeal. It will certainly make alighting from the vehicle easier – and safer – in RHD countries like Australia.
The tailgate and D pillars are raked forward in the new model, rather than retaining the van-like angular looks of the Clubman. Note however, that this car boasts barn doors, like the current Clubman.
Whether the new car continues to wear the Clubman badge is presently the basis for speculation, but a new name appears to be an odds-on favourite when the car arrives in showrooms late next year.
