The all-new 2024 Lancia Ypsilon supermini has been leaked on Instagram, months before you’re supposed to see it.
Inspired by famous Lancia models of the past, the new Ypsilon five-door hatchback’s styling – as caught here from a TV shoot in Milan, with the pics published on the CocheSpias Instagram page – draws influence from cars like the Aurelia, Delta and, perhaps most notably, the Stratos.
Replacing the ancient Fiat 500-based Ypsilon that is still on sale in Italy – now in its 12th year of production – the new model is part of Lancia’s attempt to reinvent itself as a design-obsessed EV brand.
The new Ypsilon is believed to be based on the same platform as the Fiat 500e, although Lancia has yet to release technical details.
If it is related to the Fiat 500e, expect the Lancia Ypsilon to come with an identical 42kWh lithium-ion battery and for it to be driven by a front-mounted electric motor that could share the city car’s 82kW/220Nm output.
There’s no word yet on when the new Lancia Ypsilon will be officially unveiled, but the brand has previously committed to introducing a new flagship sedan in 2026, followed by a spiritual successor to the Delta hatch.
Both will feature a radical design and the Stellantis group’s latest EV tech.
