Quirky French firm Citroen has had its up-coming C4 hatch exposed by spy photographers Carparazzi. Not due for launch until late next year, this test mule was caught out in the open in Spain.
It's the first look at the new car, which will be a crucial model for the brand -- not only globally, but especially in Australia. Given it is not due until the last quarter of 2010 don't expect to see the new C4 hit local showrooms until early 2011.
Although heavily camouflaged, the new car seems dimensionally close to the current C4 and retains the short bonnet and steeply swooping rear hatch. Citroen product boss Vincent Besson revealed a number of important details about the car at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show.
As you'd expect, Citroen plans for the new car to be both lighter and more efficient. But to achieve that, the company is looking at installing a three-cylinder engine option along with four-cylinder petrol and diesel powerplants.
Besson also indicated that a petrol-electric hybrid is on the agenda sometime during the cars life, but only on high-end variants.
