The new 2021 Nissan Navara Warrior has been caught testing out on the streets of Melbourne as the flagship model of the recently facelifted Navara ute range prepares to enter Aussie showrooms within months.
Based on the 2021 Nissan Navara PRO-4X dual-cab 4x4 pick-up, which is priced from $58,130 plus on-road costs as a manual or $60,630 plus ORCs for the auto, the new Warrior version is again expected to attract a circa-$7000 premium that should see it land from $65K-$68K.
As these spy photographs indicate, Nissan is continuing the philosophy of the previous Nissan Navara N-TREK Warrior, which upped the 4x4 ute’s suspension capability and added a variety of practical and cosmetic features.
As before, the second iteration of the Warrior is being developed and assembled by Melbourne-based engineering contractor Premcar in co-operation with Nissan.
The first Warrior was a sell-out success, with all 1400 examples snapped up thanks to its factory-backed suspension lift, all-terrain tyres/wheels, steel bullbar and other off-road hardware, which made it a direct rival for the popular Toyota HiLux Rugged X and Ford Ranger Wildtrak.
As carsales has reported, this time around Nissan Australia has been in talks with affiliate companies overseas that could lead to an export program for the new 2021 model, shoring up its viability and ensuring it continues for a few years before the new-generation Nissan Navara hits the market post-2024.
The next-generation Nissan Navara is being developed alongside the Mitsubishi Triton, which is due on sale globally next year.
The local Warrior program has also led to a study at Nissan’s global headquarters about a high-performance ute rival for the Ford Ranger Raptor that would be sold worldwide.
A Nissan Patrol Warrior is also under development at Premcar and is now expected to launch in 2022.
