New spy images have been captured of the Porsche Panamera that on the surface looks to be yet another facelift for the German sports car brand’s flagship sedan that’s now entering the twilight years of its second generation.
But the photos, captured by our spy photographers in the icy slopes of Northern Sweden, might also point to work being carried out on the next-generation model given the current Panamera dates back to 2017, meaning a full-scale redesign is anticipated in the next couple of years.
That said, Porsche may be looking to extend the lifecycle of the second generation to around 2025, allowing for another nip-and-tuck that looks to be in evidence here with a new front bumper, larger air intakes and another new cooling slot above the front number plate.
There’s also a pair of small running lights at the front-end that we’d suggest are temporary measures on this engineering car.
The rear-end doesn’t appear to have received any work, however a heavily disguised cabin indicates Porsche has made some substantial changes to the Panamera’s interior tech too.
Overseas reports have speculated that the Panamera will borrow some of the technologies and more extensive touch-screen displays found on the electric Porsche Taycan.
The more aggressive front-end treatment on the car shown here has also prompted some to suggest this is a Panamera Turbo GT that will follow the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT into showrooms.
Porsche Australia is remaining tight-lipped on details of Panamera’s forthcoming updates and/or next generation, so we’ll have to cool our heels until further details emerge.
