SPY PICS: New Volkswagen Transporter T7 outed

Seventh-generation German van spotted testing in minimal camo

Our spy photographers have captured first images of the all-new T7 Volkswagen Transporter, even before the facelifted T6.1 van range arrives in Australia.

Expected to feature a longer wheelbase with more front-end overhang, liberating a more spacious cabin, the seventh-generation Volkswagen Transporter van was spotted testing in the Austrian Alps sans camouflage.

Sporting a completely revised look that’s a little more toned-down, the T7 van can be seen here in Multivan people-mover form complete with dummy passengers strapped in for the ride.

Likely based off a new version of the German manufacturer’s latest MQB platform, the new Transporter van will no doubt come with the brand’s latest infotainment unit and driver assist technologies.

The new van is likely to be officially unveiled this year, before debuting in 2021 with a range of petrol and diesel engines.

It may also become available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain or perhaps even a pure-electric drivetrain, in addition to the battery-powered people-mover and van previewed by the ID Buzz and ID Buzz Cargo concepts respectively.

Stay tuned for the arrival of the Volkswagen’s updated T6.1 van range later this year, including the Kombi-esque California Beach camper.
