SPY PICS: Next 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo S blows its cover

Performance flagship based on latest 911 caught almost camo-free, set to get upwards of 450kW

Pictures of an almost completely undisguised 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo S have been captured by carsales' spy photographers as the flagship Ferrari F8 Tributo-rival undergoes final testing in the US.

Set to become the fastest non GT-branded Porsche of all time, the 992-series based Porsche 911 Turbo will be loaded with a heavily revised twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre flat-six cylinder that should punch out upwards of 450kW, thanks to 48-volt mild hybrid electrification.

Featuring a sophisticated launch control, all-wheel drive and an updated eight-speed PDK transmission, the 911 Turbo and Turbo S picture is primed to offer 918 Spyder-levels of acceleration with a sub-2.5 second 0-100km/h sprint almost guaranteed for the quicker Turbo S.

From an earlier leak, we already knew the seventh 911 Turbo will sport its trademark wide-body and rear fender air intakes that are always reserved for the Porsche flagship.

A revised rear bumper, meanwhile, packages a set of quad pipes and a rear diffuser that works with a larger rear spoiler to maximise downforce.

Speaking of aero, the latest 911 Turbo is also tipped to employ active aero elements to either generate downforce or reduce drag.

Other rumours suggest that a plug-in version could follow.

Created to sit above the Turbo S, the 911 Turbo S E-Hybrid could come with as much as 550kW – enough for a 0-100km/h dash in a stunning 2.2 seconds.

Originally, it was thought the 911 Turbo might have been unveiled at last month's Frankfurt motor show but now it's thought one of the fastest-ever Porsches will either debut at the LA motor show in November or the Geneva motor show in March.
