SPY PICS: Next-gen Porsche Cayenne breaks cover

Latest pics reveal the next generation of Porsche’s large SUV in just about all its finery

Showing more detail than we’ve yet seen, these latest Automedia spy photos of the 2018 Porsche Cayenne indicate the new large SUV will debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September this year.

Although the new Cayenne will bear familiar styling signatures, in reality it is largely all-new.

Underneath is the breakthrough MLB platform - using a combination of aluminium, carbon fibre and ultra high-strength steel – currently rolling out across the Volkswagen Group in vehicles like Bentley Bentayga and Audi Q7.

The spy photos show much of the new Porsche SUV’s front and rear ends – although it is difficult to spot pointers to the clamshell bonnet claimed to be a feature of the new car. In fact, the bonnet shut lines and A-pillar panels show no sign the newcomer will be markedly different to the current Cayenne.

On the other hand, easily spotted is the new tailgate, complete with super-deep roof spoiler shrouding, and an overall tidying-up of the creases and curves which characterise the current model’s rear end.

Although we find it hard to see on the photos, Automedia spy photographers also reckon the tail lights are connected by an LED strip running across the tailgate lid (a style expected to appear on the next Porsche 911.

The side window line looks a bit more curvaceous too, and there’s new side sculpting on the doors.

As far as the engine lineup is concerned, the latest word has the all-new Porsche Cayenne offering two V8s, a V6, a diesel, and a plug-in hybrid.
