Snapped testing in the Austrian Alps, this heavily clad van is Ford's next-generation Transit.
Slated to commence production in 2013, Transit will be a truly global full-size van, replacing the E-Series currently on sale in the US. Quoting Ford CFO Lewis Booth, Ward's Auto confirmed all future Ford commercial vans will be derived from the Transit platform.
The Ford E-Series has enjoyed a 50 year production run in the US, the current model available with a choice of 4.6 and 5.4-litre V8 engines, as well as a 6.8-litre V10.
The upcoming seventh-generation Transit marks Ford's 40-year quest to develop and offer a single global van and will be offered with a range of four and five-cylinder petrol and turbodiesel engines. These will range in capacity from 2.3 to 3.2-litres.
